Junior System Tester/Deployment Specialist
ASRC Federal is seeking a Junior System Tester/Deployment Specialist to join our Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This is a 100% on‑site, full‑time position at the William J Hughes Technical Center in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.
Overview TFDM is the surface management solution for the FAA’s NextGen. With growing congestion on the airport surface due to increased commercial air traffic nationwide, the need for efficient aircraft traffic planning on the airport ground is critical.
Key Responsibilities
Modernize the air traffic control tower equipment by improving the exchange of electronic flight data and implementing electronic flight strips in the tower.
Streamline the flow of departures on the surface to save fuel and reduce CO₂ emissions.
Optimize the experience for the flying public, Air Traffic Control (ATC), and the airline industry by improving collaboration and decision‑making capabilities between the gate and the tower.
Provide 2nd level engineering support for TFDM.
Collaborate with agile teams to develop, execute, and maintain systems in alignment with FAA requirements.
Support system development, testing, integration, and deployment activities locally and in the field.
Review and comment on system engineering, requirement, testing, and training documents.
Attend Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) to support the program and team.
Participate in system test and key site test activities.
Provide remote data collection and analysis.
Conduct routine laboratory maintenance.
Provide end‑user functionality support to the field remotely via the helpdesk.
Required Knowledge & Experience
Entry‑level individual working under supervision in a team environment.
Software requirement analysis, design, design reviews, development, software testing, integration, installation, and/or maintenance of complex computer systems.
Software programming in languages used for NAS and NAS support systems.
Development and improvement of software development processes.
Citizenship / Permanent Residency Requirement
Must be a U.S. citizen, have a U.S. Green Card, or hold a non‑immigrant work authorization (VISA).
Has resided in the U.S. for three (3) consecutive years.
Company is currently unable to sponsor candidates.
Relocation Requirement Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within commuting distance to Egg Harbor Township, NJ.
Education Requirement
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Mathematics, or a bachelor’s degree in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and up to three (3) years of related work experience in a computer science or math field.
Master’s Degree in any field of study with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of either undergraduate or graduate study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and at least one (1) year of related work experience in a computer science or math field.
Required Skills
Experience with UNIX (SOLARIS)/LINUX (RHEL) and Windows.
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
System testing, shakedowns, and deployment.
Network systems (servers, routers, etc.).
Databases (SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Strong attention to detail and willingness to take initiative.
Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
Troubleshoot and isolate defects.
Communicate effectively in verbal and written communication.
Preferred Skills
FAA testing and deployment knowledge.
Writing system test procedures, plans, and reports.
UNIX (SOLARIS)/LINUX (RHEL) and Windows.
C/C++.
Scripting (Shell, Bash, Python, etc.).
Microsoft Office (PPT, Visio).
Work Environment
Full‑time position with a standard flexible work schedule and occasional non‑standard work hours.
Extensive travel (> 50%).
Ability to lift 25 to 50 lbs.
Cubicle environment.
