Principal Project Progress Analyst Location: Houston, Texas (Hybrid) – relocation to Port Arthur, TX 2026

Type: Contract

Our team is currently looking for a Principal Project Progress Analyst for a client in the LNG Industry. The role involves performing project control activities for mega LNG projects ranging from $1B‑$12B across all phases, serving as the subject‑matter expert in project cost control, establishing best practices, and managing reporting.

Responsibilities

Perform project schedule analysis and track progress, ensuring cash flow ties to progress and payment schedules.

Verify and validate earned progress; align with progress curves.

Conduct field verifications and reporting of installed quantities per drawings and specifications.

Perform quantity audits (field and in‑house) and report findings.

Develop and manage guidelines and procedures for progress and milestone verification.

Collaborate with Project Management, Contractor’s Project Controls, and Scheduling Teams to ensure timely submissions and updates.

Support project forecasts, develop plans and budgets, review AFE development, and analyze contractor invoices and variances.

Prepare month‑end accruals with Accounting.

Develop risk register and facilitate risk identification, impact, and mitigation.

Implement standardized Project Controls best practices.

Review vendor and contractor agreements to ensure compliance with cash flow and contractual terms.

Assist Contracts Manager with change orders and delay claim analysis.

Read and understand contracts, specifications, and engineering documents.

Prepare comprehensive reports and dashboards for stakeholders.

Apply EVM techniques to analyze project performance.

Develop quantity discipline trackers and add new dashboards to existing trackers.

Validate invoices and provide discrepancy details in a timely manner.

Perform other duties as assigned (≤5%).

Education & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related discipline.

At least 8+ years of experience on large industrial projects in oil, gas, and/or LNG.

Experience developing WBS, ETC, and EAC.

Strong Excel and database application skills.

Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Knowledge of GAPP and scheduling standards such as CPM and EVM.

Project control experience covering progress, cost, risk, schedule, and contract management.

Team player, self‑starter, innovative, flexible.

Licenses & Certifications

PMP or other professional certifications preferred.
