Job Title: Quality Technician
Location: Kentwood, MI
Pay Rate: $22.00+ / hr
Shift
2nd 4 : 00pm - 3:00 am Monday - Friday; Overtime available on Saturday as needed
Job Summary The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that all products, materials, and processes meet established quality standards and customer requirements. This role supports production and engineering teams by conducting inspections, testing, and documentation to maintain compliance with internal procedures, industry standards, and customer specifications.
Responsibilities
Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of steel materials, welded components, and fabricated products
Use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) to verify compliance with specifications
Review blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to confirm product requirements
Document inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions in accordance with company procedures
Assist with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action implementation
Support quality audits (internal, customer, and third-party)
Maintain calibration records for inspection tools and equipment
Collaborate with production, engineering, and management to ensure continuous improvement in quality systems
Adhere to all safety policies and promote a safe working environment
Key Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or associate degree preferred
2+ years of experience in quality assurance/inspection within manufacturing or steel fabrication
Strong knowledge of welding processes, steel fabrication, and related standards (AWS, ISO, AISC preferred)
Proficiency in reading blueprints and engineering drawings
Skilled in using precision measurement tools and inspection equipmentStrong attention to detail, organizational, and documentation skills
Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and continuous improvement practices
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, data entry, reporting)
