Job Summary
The Florida APEX Accelerator (APEX Accelerator) at FIU provides a no‑cost team of business specialists who work with entrepreneurs and business owners in Miami‑Dade and Monroe counties to access government contracts and innovation programs.
The Accelerator organizes workshops, seminars, networking events and other community events to benefit entrepreneurs and business owners.
The role requires providing business advice and assistance in federal, state and local government contracting, including procurement laws, SBIR/STTR funding, government marketing plans, and proposal development.
Responsibilities
Provide specialized one‑on‑one advice on government marketing plans, procurement opportunity identification, contracting & subcontracting qualifications, SBIR/STTR funding opportunities, procurement laws, classification systems, vendor registration, solicitation interpretation and proposal development.
Lead and execute efforts to educate clients, partners and stakeholders on pursuing federal, state and local government prime contracts and subcontracts, as well as Florida APEX Accelerator services.
Manage research to identify potential client success stories, outcomes, best practices and opportunities to enhance service delivery.
Oversee and maintain educational materials, resources and data sources for center consultants, staff, business clients and community partners.
Represent the Florida APEX Accelerator in university and community settings.
Apply strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication, problem‑solving and listening skills.
Manage client portfolio with organization and time‑management skills.
Use computer skills to enter client interaction data into the center’s CRM system promptly and accurately.
Travel within Miami‑Dade County and the Florida Keys as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a relevant field and two (2) years of related experience.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with government contract procurement principles and procedures.
Business consulting and business ownership experience.
Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
Bilingual preferred.

Ability to travel locally and nationally.
