Accounting Specialist, Land Development & Home Production
Position Summary: The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties to support the financial operations of the organization. This role ensures accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintains financial records, and assists in the preparation of reports and reconciliations. The Accounting Specialist works closely with internal departments to ensure compliance with company policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Posting deposits and electronic payments into the accounting system.
Partner with accountants and other departments to resolve deposit and payment application questions.
Reconcile bank accounts on a weekly and monthly basis.
Create, upload, and post journal entries and job cost entries for various business units into the accounting system.
Prepare billings for custom homes.
Review general ledger activity for proper classification of expenses.
Prepare month-end ledger reconciliations and proactively consult with accountants regarding issues or questions.
Assist accountants with preparation of financial statements.
Provide information for budgets and upload budgets into the system.
Maintain detailed task-level accounting procedures for assigned tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Consistently provide prompt and courteous service.
Perform job responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies.
Actively cooperate with internal service delivery partners to provide optimal service to customers.
Requirements
Associate degree in accounting required or equivalent experience will be considered.
Minimum three years of general accounting experience.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, and Excel.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance in alignment with company standards and scheduling expectations.
Must remain alert at all times to perform essential functions.
Success Factors
Timberline and Mark Systems experience is a plus.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
Ability to meet deadlines and multiple demands on limited time.
Strong organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.
