Position Summary Octagon is looking to hire a Private Credit Analyst/Associate to join our growing team. This individual will play a crucial role in evaluating, structuring, and executing direct lending investments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support deal origination and execution across the full investment life cycle, including underwriting, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring
Build and maintain detailed financial models, including debt sizing, downside cases, and return analysis
Conduct comprehensive credit and industry analysis, including market research, sponsor evaluation, and competitive positioning
Prepare investment committee materials and participate in investment discussions
Interact directly with borrowers, private equity sponsors, legal counsel and third‑party advisors during deal execution
Monitor portfolio performance and prepare periodic updates for internal and external stakeholders
Assist in the negotiation of term sheets, credit agreements, and other legal documentation
Areas of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Qualifications
2+ years of experience in private credit or investment banking (preferably within leveraged finance, M&A or industry coverage with exposure to credit)
Strong understanding of financial statements, credit metrics, and capital structures
Proven ability to build complex financial models with attention to detail and accuracy
Outstanding reputation of professional integrity and maturity
Highly motivated, proactive team player with a positive attitude
Ability to multi‑task, be proactive, work independently, and work effectively under pressure (often under deadlines and changing priorities)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Comfortable interacting and building relationships with all teams (including senior management) across the firm and affiliated organizations
Ability to clearly articulate views and supporting data or rationale
Exhibits a strong commitment to meet compliance obligations reflecting Octagon's core values of honesty and integrity; must accept responsibility for compliance in each role and comply with all applicable rules, regulations, and legal requirements
