We are seeking an experienced NoSQL and DB2 on premises and Public Cloud Database Engineer to join our dynamic DB Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our database systems in both on premise and public cloud environments. This role involves ensuring high availability, performance, security, and scalability of our databases, including Db2 and various NoSQL databases.
As a Staff Database Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our database infrastructure. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting‑edge technologies, solve complex problems, and contribute to the success of our global payment network. Your expertise in NoSQL (Cassandra or Redis Valkey) and DB2 technologies will be instrumental in driving innovation and ensuring the reliability and performance of our database systems.
This role will contribute to the design and architecture, solution engineering, and L3 support. You will be responsible for delivering database projects, performing problem analysis, and troubleshooting. Additionally, you will deploy and manage database instances on public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, utilizing cloud‑tools and services to enhance database performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage database systems in public cloud environments, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and scalability of databases, including Db2 and various NoSQL databases.
Deploy and manage database instances on public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, utilizing cloud‑tools and services to enhance database performance and reliability.
Develop and maintain scripts for database automation tasks using Python, Ansible, or similar, and implement Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices using tools like Terraform, Ansible Tower, or CloudFormation.
Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure databases are protected against data loss and can be recovered in case of failure.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, and policies, and provide regular reports on database performance, uptime, and other key metrics.
Set up and maintain database monitoring tools to ensure database health and performance and troubleshoot and resolve database‑related issues in a timely manner.
Provide technical influence and subject‑matter expertise for the database team, tackling complex problems and identifying innovative solutions.
Work closely with development teams to ensure database designs align with application requirements, leading to more efficient and effective application development.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications
5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or 2+ years of work experience with an Advanced degree (Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, or 8+ years of relevant work experience.
7–10 years of DBA experience, generally with DB2 LUW and NoSQL databases.
Proficiency with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra or Redis Valkey, and experience with public cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Strong knowledge and extensive experience with DB2 UDB RDBMS technologies, Cassandra, and public cloud NoSQL databases.
Sound knowledge of UNIX and DB2 UDB utilities; troubleshooting database performance problems and database issues.
Strong UNIX platform skills and understanding of network, storage, tiered application environments, and security.
Proficiency in writing SQL procedures, functions, and packages for administration and application support; experience with Q replication, range‑partitioned tables, hash‑partitioned tables, replicated MQT and MDC.
Strong knowledge of operating systems, scripting, data modeling, and business intelligence tools.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex systems and database environment issues.
Demonstrated ability to work in a complex organization to determine business and customer needs, providing the best solution to meet those needs.
Sound knowledge of NoSQL technologies like MongoDB or Cassandra is preferable.
Work experience in a financial institution.
Additional Information Work Hours:
Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements:
5–10% of the time.

This position will be performed in an office setting. The incumbent will sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, and frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.
