Director, Renewables Sales

Location:

Position Summary

The

Director, Renewables Sales

will lead a national sales team focused on providing high‑power, custom‑engineered transformers to the renewable energy market — including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This senior leader will own strategy, execution, and growth within the segment, driving market penetration, customer relationships, and revenue performance.

The ideal candidate is a commercially strategic, technically fluent sales executive with deep experience in the power or electrical equipment industry. They will guide their team in identifying and securing opportunities with major EPCs, developers, and utilities supporting renewable generation projects, while ensuring alignment with corporate goals for growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop

a high‑performing sales organization targeting renewable generation customers across North America.

Own P&L accountability

for the renewables segment, including order intake, margin, and growth targets.

Define and execute

the commercial strategy for high‑power transformers in solar, wind, and BESS markets.

Establish long‑term relationships with EPC firms, developers, IPPs, and utility partners to drive repeat business and new project wins.

Collaborate cross‑functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Customer Solutions teams to ensure technical and commercial alignment on proposals.

Drive opportunity management through the CRM process, ensuring accurate forecasting and disciplined pipeline management.

Identify emerging technologies and policy trends impacting renewable markets, translating insights into commercial action plans.

Lead contract negotiations on pricing, delivery, and technical specifications while maintaining alignment with internal risk, legal, and finance requirements.

Mentor and coach Regional Sales Managers and Account Executives to improve technical knowledge, consultative selling, and key account management skills.

Represent the company at renewable energy trade shows, industry conferences, and customer events to enhance brand visibility and market reputation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in

Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field

(Master’s preferred).

15+ years of sales leadership experience

in the power, electrical equipment, or transformer industry; minimum

5 years in renewable or utility markets .

Proven track record leading sales teams to exceed growth and margin targets in technically complex, capital equipment environments.

Strong understanding of

power transformers , grid interconnection, and renewable generation applications.

Demonstrated success selling to

EPCs, developers, and utilities

within the renewable or power infrastructure sectors.

Excellent negotiation, strategic planning, and relationship management skills.

Experience managing large‑scale, multi‑stakeholder projects with long sales cycles.

Strong analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.

Willingness to travel

30–40%

domestically.
