Building on its extensive programming and successful model in the United States, KIND is expanding across the Americas and Europe, working with governments, NGOs, and the private sector to address the legal and mental health needs of this population and advocate for systemic reforms. Position Summary

KIND seeks a Paralegal who will support the delivery of legal services through case‑support tasks in coordination with our attorneys. Responsibilities include conducting client intakes, legal research, preparing immigration forms, drafting affidavits, maintaining files and data, hearing preparation, and social services referrals. The Paralegal reports to the Staff or Senior Attorney and works in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. Essential Functions

Provide support to attorneys, including legal research, immigration benefit and other standard form completion, affidavit drafting, basic motion drafting, hearing and interview preparation, and case‑file maintenance in the case‑management database. Conduct client phone screenings, intake interviews, and draft intake memoranda. Assist pro‑bono attorneys with case placement and administrative tasks related to pro‑bono training and mentoring. Serve as point of contact for clients, ensuring case files and case‑management system reflect current contact information and status updates on case developments and child wellbeing. Conduct regular check‑ins with the child for direct representation cases, especially when case adjudication is delayed; update attorney and senior paralegal regarding new developments as needed. Assist in case audit efforts for pro‑bono cases, ensuring updates from pro‑bono attorneys regarding case status and child wellbeing are timely and accurately recorded. Conduct an initial assessment of case referrals against case‑acceptance criteria and program priorities. Ensure appropriate data entry for referrals and intakes. Liaise with Social Services Coordinators regarding social services needs and referrals, assist with social services projects as office needs arise, and collaborate to achieve programmatic goals where legal and social services intersect. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or undergraduate degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience, or high school diploma with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Fluency in English and Spanish (required for direct communication with the majority of children and caregivers served). Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children, preferably at‑risk youth, immigrants, or refugee children. Minimum of 1 year of experience conducting legal intakes or interviewing children in a professional setting. Excellent organizational, time‑management, and attention‑to‑detail skills. Ability to travel locally as assigned. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel, etc.). Comfort working collaboratively and multi‑tasking in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
