Senior Database Administrator (SQL / Oracle) Location:
Washington, D.C. (Mostly Remote but 1 or two visits may be needed in a month)
Duration:
5-year contract

Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Senior Database Administrators (DBAs) specializing in SQL Server and Oracle to provide enterprise-level database administration, development, and support services. The selected consultants will manage mission-critical database environments supporting various business applications across the enterprise.
This role involves proactive system management, troubleshooting, and performance optimization across SQL Server clusters, standalone Oracle databases, and related database technologies including MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MS Access.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server and Oracle databases and clustered environments.
Perform system configuration, tuning, patching, and migration of SQL / Oracle databases.
Troubleshoot daily database incidents, resolve performance bottlenecks, and ensure high availability.
Support development and deployment of database-driven applications across multiple environments.
Collaborate with application teams to design, build, and enhance SQL / Oracle databases for business applications.
Create and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and change management activities.
Manage access control, backup / recovery operations, and disaster recovery readiness.
Provide production support, incident response, and participate in on-call rotations as required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
8+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator supporting enterprise SQL Server and Oracle environments.
Proven experience with:
SQL Server Cluster management and Always-On Availability Groups
Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and performance tuning
MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MS Access database administration
Strong understanding of database security, data integrity, and replication concepts.
Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or PL / SQL) and automation of routine DBA tasks.
Familiarity with supporting database components in environments that integrate with SharePoint or other business systems.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
