Job Description As a Senior Plumbing Engineer at 120 Degreez, you will be responsible for leading the design, analysis, and implementation of MEP systems for complex and high-profile projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your expertise, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the continued success and growth of our firm.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and coordination of plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, compressed air, laboratory, and specialty systems.
Perform and review plumbing load calculations, pressure loss calculations, and equipment sizing to ensure system performance and efficiency.
Prepare detailed plans, specifications, and construction documents for plumbing systems in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
Review and respond to contractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings to verify alignment with design intent and applicable regulations.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Coordinate plumbing system design with other disciplines—including architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical—to ensure cohesive project integration and avoid conflicts.
Conduct site observations and field verification during design and construction phases to ensure system installation aligns with approved documents and quality standards.
Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to deliver creative, cost-effective, and code-compliant plumbing solutions.
Stay informed about current California Plumbing Code, energy and water conservation standards, and sustainable design practices, incorporating new technologies and best practices into your work.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Plumbing Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 7 years of progressive plumbing design experience, with demonstrated ability to lead medium- to large-scale projects from concept through construction.
California PE license (or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe).
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and plumbing design software tools.
Thorough knowledge of California Plumbing Code, Title 24, and related standards and regulations.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Proven experience mentoring junior engineers and coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary design teams.
Self-driven and passionate about delivering innovative, sustainable, and high-performing plumbing system designs.
