We are seeking an experienced portfolio manager to oversee a designated commercial loan portfolio within our commercial lending team in Stoneham, MA.
Responsibilities
Maintain and service a commercial loan portfolio assigned by the Team Leader, focused on traditional C&I loans to not‑for‑profit and lower mid‑market privately held companies.
Manage timely collection and review of borrower reporting requirements, ensuring covenant compliance across an assigned portfolio.
Monitor revolving lines of credit tied to borrowing base reporting across an assigned portfolio.
Assist with loan renewals, extensions, modifications, and file comments in accordance with loan policy.
Support underwriting staff by providing accurate information as needed.
Review legal documents and build understanding of loan documentation, with oversight and support.
Build familiarity with loan structuring and incoming new money requests.
Accompany lenders on client or prospect calls to strengthen bank relationships.
Assist with regulatory examinations and compliance reviews to ensure satisfactory audit findings.
Work collaboratively and effectively with other areas of the Bank.
Demonstrate compliance with business banking laws and regulations as defined in company policies and procedures.
Communicate with external constituents, exhibiting a sense of urgency toward meeting client requests.
Promote the company's presence through active participation and attendance at various trade events.
Project and maintain a professional image in the marketplace.
Demonstrate regular attendance as required.
Assume additional responsibilities as requested.
Support lender with evaluation of new loan requests, preparing deal screens and term sheets as needed.
Serve as secondary point of contact within assigned portfolio, handling routine customer service requests with minimal support.
Serve as secondary point of contact with Bank counsel during closing process; review loan documents and provide feedback to lender/counsel.
Skills
Strong credit analysis skills.
Ability to work independently and directly with lenders.
Capacity to multi‑task with lenders/clients, particularly in collecting required financial information.
Proficiency with technology and banking systems, including a solid understanding of the Bank’s NextGen system.
Education and Experience Minimum of 4 years of related commercial/credit analysis experience and a bachelor’s degree with a business concentration or equivalent experience. Formal credit training is strongly desired.
Physical Demands Regular sitting, talking, and hearing; standing, walking, and using hands to handle or feel objects. Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds, and infrequent lifting of up to 25 pounds. Work may involve travel to client sites and community events.
