I&C Reliability Staff Engineer
Our client is seeking a highly skilled I&C Reliability Staff Engineer to join our Global Engineering team in Houston, TX. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability and safety of instrumentation and control systems across manufacturing operations. You will provide technical leadership in reliability engineering, support capital projects, and drive continuous improvement initiatives for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and process automation.
Location: Houston, TX. Base pay range: $160,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr.
Responsibilities
Reliability Engineering:
Lead efforts to improve reliability of SIS, instrumentation, and control systems across multiple sites.
Technical Expertise:
Provide engineering support for small, mid, and large capital projects, including specification, design review, and commissioning of I&C systems.
Lifecycle Management:
Develop and implement strategies for lifecycle asset management of control systems and instrumentation.
Failure Analysis:
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions for system failures and performance issues.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure systems meet regulatory and safety standards, including IEC 61511 and ISA guidelines.
Collaboration:
Work closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams to align reliability goals and support plant needs.
Innovation:
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend upgrades or replacements to improve system performance and reduce downtime.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of system configurations, reliability metrics, and engineering standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or related field.
5+ years of experience in instrumentation and control systems engineering, preferably in chemical or industrial manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of SIS design, PLC/DCS systems, and field instrumentation.
Familiarity with IEC 61511, ISA standards, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
Experience with CMMS systems, data analytics, and asset performance management tools.
Excellent communication, project management, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Skills
Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) credential.
Experience with Honeywell, Emerson, or Siemens control platforms.
Knowledge of cybersecurity standards for industrial control systems.
