Position Summary
Imperial Capital is seeking an experienced
Credit Analyst
to join the Sales & Trading Desk Analysis Group. The analyst will cover U.S. and Canadian issuers as well as select international credits, with a focus on
high yield, distressed debt, and special situation securities .
The successful candidate will conduct in-depth fundamental research, develop detailed financial and valuation models, and generate independent, actionable investment ideas for the trading desk and institutional clients.
Key Responsibilities
Perform fundamental credit analysis on a range of issuers and capital structures, identifying value opportunities across sectors
Develop detailed financial, valuation, and recovery models
Produce timely, opinion-based research with actionable trading recommendations
Engage directly with institutional clients and internal sales teams to communicate research insights
Monitor key industry, market, and company developments that impact credit performance
Collaborate with traders and sales professionals to align research output with client needs
Qualifications
Experience:
5–10 years of high yield and/or distressed credit research experience (sell-side or buy-side)
Network:
Established relationships with buy-side analysts and portfolio managers required
Expertise:
Strong background in credit and capital structure analysis; familiarity with the U.S. bankruptcy process preferred
Skills:
Advanced financial modeling and valuation expertise
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Entrepreneurial mindset and results-oriented approach
Work Style:
Self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
Integrity:
High ethical standards, intellectual curiosity, and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude
Education & Credentials
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Master’s in Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred
CFA and/or CPA designation a plus
Background in accounting or legal analysis preferred
FINRA licenses (SIE, Series 7, 63, 65, 86, and 87)
