Overview The Campus Bursar is responsible for performing general accounting/business office-related duties with emphasis on student support regarding ledgers, payment plans, and collection of documents. This position supports the Central Support Bursar’s Department to ensure students’ needs are met in a timely manner. It will be cross trained in Financial Services to ensure students are prepared financially to begin enrollment. This role supports multiple Hondros College of Nursing campuses and will require travel to assigned campuses.
Responsibilities
Payment Plans - Student Support Duties: Review campus-specific financial aid reports regarding PFEs to set up payment plans. Initiate, implement, and deliver student deferred payment plans (DPP) and TILA forms. Collect and maintain all student payment plan documents in the student management system. Maintain weekly communication with students and campus leadership on progression to be financially ready. Manage and assist with student inquiries regarding payment plans, balance due, and ledgers. Review during break weeks revised PFEs. Assist in weekly collection reporting for student payment plans.
Student Finance – Customer Service Duties: Conduct accounting receivable interviews with current students and readmitted students. Provide financial literacy regarding payment options and plans; resolve problems and questions. Initiate settlement of student account balances in escalated or special situations. Collaborate with campus leadership on financial readiness of students; identify at-risk students; communicate with campus staff and students to obtain financial documents timely. Provide information regarding application process, loan counseling, eligibility for state/federal financial assistance, contracts and/or institutional payment plans. Inform students of financial obligations and impact on enrollment. Connect students with financing resources. Advise students on obligations and potential consequences. Update systems to ensure timely processing, funding, billing, and collections. Monitor funding sources and align payment plans with funding sources. Perform other duties as assigned.
Student Finance – Compliance: Develop and maintain College bursar policies, procedures, documents, and best practices. Assist in audit preparation and provide access to accounting records as required.
Requirements
Bachelor's Preferred
Two years accounting/financial experience or equivalent
Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Knowledge of office procedures and equipment
Knowledge of PCs and software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to interact diplomatically with a variety of individuals at various levels
Ability to identify and resolve moderately complex administrative issues or escalate appropriately
Knowledge of basic accounting principles and budgeting
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Aptitude for accuracy and detail
Strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to manage simultaneous projects
