Position Summary The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal payroll regulations.
Job Responsibilities
Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy of calculations for wages, bonuses, deductions, and taxes.
Maintain and update payroll records, including personal information, salaries, and hours worked.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, hour laws and best practices.
Coordinate with HR and Finance departments to verify employee information, resolve payroll issues, and provide payroll information for reports and GL reporting.
Handle the administration of the electronic time and attendance, ensuring accurate recording of employee hours worked.
Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to management as required.
Performs all activities necessary to process one or more payrolls, including maintaining payroll records, processing voluntary deductions such as state and federal tax records, preparing accounting documents, documenting and updating procedures, and preparing special payroll reports for all levels of management.
Assist with year-end tasks including the preparation of W-2 forms and other tax documents.
Stay current with payroll regulations, trends, and best practices, ensuring our payroll processes remain compliant and efficient.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters in a timely and accurate manner.
Oversee and complete ad hoc reporting for Finance and Executive Team.
Education, Experience And Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of five years of experience in payroll is preferred.
Skill Requirements
Require working knowledge of ERP systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Require advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Strong knowledge of payroll software's (e.g., ADP, QuickBooks, etc.).
Strong knowledge of payroll and accounting principles, payroll methods, Department of Labor regulations, and federal and state tax regulations required.
Strong attention to detail.
Proficiency in problem analysis, issue resolution, planning, and time management.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, professional demeanor under pressure with payroll due dates and effectively work with employees at all levels.
Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision in a fast-paced office environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive employee information.
