Summary Lee Health is seeking a detail-oriented
Outpatient Coder
to join our Coding Department. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring accurate and compliant coding of patient encounters. You will review and abstract data from medical records into Epic and 3M 360, identifying and coding diagnoses and procedures according to ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 guidelines. Your expertise helps ensure complete and precise documentation for reporting, reimbursement, and quality outcomes. This position focuses on
Emergency Department (ED), Diagnostic, and Ancillary record coding , contributing directly to the accuracy and efficiency of our health information systems.
What You’ll Do
Review medical records to accurately code diagnoses and procedures in accordance with ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 standards.
Assign primary and secondary codes and ensure compliance with all government and payer regulations.
Abstract detailed clinical, demographic, and statistical information into Epic and 3M 360.
Apply APC assignments and HCC coding where applicable.
Collaborate with coding leadership and clinical teams to maintain high standards of data quality.
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 1 year of outpatient (acute care hospital or physician) coding experience preferred.
Completion of a coding course required.
Licensure
None required.
Certifications (One or More Required)
CPC (Certified Professional Coder), COC (Certified Outpatient Coder), CPC-P (Certified Professional Coder-Payer), or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist).
Additional certifications from AAPC or AHIMA such as CRC, CIC, RHIT, or RHIA also accepted.
