Position Highlights The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) Partnership for Native American Cancer Prevention (NACP) is a collaboration between Northern Arizona University and the UACC, funded through the National Cancer Institute (NCI). NACP’s mission is to alleviate the unequal burden of cancer among Native Americans of the Southwest through research, training, and community outreach programs in collaboration with the communities we serve. The successful candidate will serve as the Program Coordinator for the Research Education Core (REC). Oversight, planning, facilitation, and execution of the REC summer program is imperative to this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supports marketing and recruitment activities of students for the NACP Research Education Core summer research program. Prepares promotional materials, individual letters, schedules for tabling events, presentations at meetings and classrooms.

Organize, plan, and execute the schedule, activities, and/or curriculum for the following: NACP summer research program, monthly meetings with NAU, quarterly Four Corners meetings, and the My Journey Speaker Series.

Assist with preparing, editing, and submitting local and national reports such as the NACP Research Performance Progress Report, NACP Program Steering Committee presentation, and NACP Internal Advisory Committee presentation.

Effective management of NACP REC social media outlets (e.g. Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook). Creation of community facing social media posts using programs such as Adobe Lightroom, Canva, and Meta Business Suite.

Create and maintain relationships with students and other AI/AN programs and student organizations on campus as well as communicating with NAU REC staff to coordinate activities and events. Effective management of the NACP listserv is imperative to maintaining relationships with students and organizations.

Ability to communicate effectively with participants, faculty, and staff.

Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, with strong organizational skills to effectively manage time, tasks, and priorities.

Ability to implement existing NACP curriculum lessons and provide guidance to students regarding assignments and scheduling.

Ability to think critically.

Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

General to upper-level knowledge of administrative applications such as Excel, Word, Box, and Outlook.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.

Up to 1 year of relevant work experience may be required.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
