Physician - ACOS Primary Care (Regular Ft)

Summary : This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current — full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States — or in the District of Columbia.
Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Residency programs approved by ACGME, AOA, or other programs with a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States.
Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs who would otherwise meet the basic requirements may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on an intermittent or fee‑basis.
PRPs must be fully licensed physicians and will have a scope of practice for certain restricted duties under supervision.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
At least 2 years of Primary Care experience and demonstrated leadership skills.
Preferred Experience: Advanced knowledge and ability to direct complex administrative management systems and a working knowledge of general clinical systems as they relate to patient care.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform efficiently the duties of the position, including sitting, standing (up to 2 hours), walking (up to 2 hours), bending and reaching.
Duties

Clinical responsibilities include interpreting and correlating patient testing data, interpreting anatomic pathology results, providing consultations, maintaining medical staff privileges, defining and monitoring standards of performance, quality improvement implementation, staffing, strategic planning, educational responsibilities, and ensuring a safe clinical environment.
Procedures may include Women’s Health, routine Primary Care dermatology or orthopedic procedures, outside the normal scope of practice if approved by the Medical Staff Executive Board.
Supervisory duties: direct supervision of Primary Care providers and perform chart reviews, scope‑of‑practice writing, and corrective action as needed.
Work schedule: Permanent full‑time, Monday‑Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
