Director of Surface Marketing Operations, Growth and Partnerships We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Director of Surface Marketing Operations, Growth and Partnerships to head the Microsoft Surface Marketing Operations, Growth and Partnerships team. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, enabling product lifecycle decision-making, and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

As the strategic backbone of the Surface Marketing organization, this leader will oversee a cross‑disciplinary team responsible for launch readiness, field enablement, lifecycle management, and strategic partnerships that cross collaborate across business planning, product management, product marketing, and sourcing. Field enablement across sales teams in consumer and commercial channels together with managing first‑ and third‑party partnerships are key to the team.

The role requires a unique blend of business management, strategic partnerships, communications, and a passion for leveraging AI to transform marketing operations.

Success in this role includes driving growth through business management, enabling executive decision‑making, and tracking business progress weekly. The leader orchestrates business rhythms, manages cross‑functional initiatives, and ensures alignment between strategic priorities and day‑to‑day execution. By leveraging data‑driven insights and operational excellence, the team achieves ambitious goals while cultivating an environment where innovation and inclusion thrive.

Responsibilities

Own and optimize Surface GTM business rhythms, including Rhythm of Business (ROB), Monthly Business Reviews (MBR), and launch automation tools to drive clarity, agility, and alignment across planning and execution cycles.

Lead a high‑performing, cross‑functional team spanning technical marketing, digital operations, and partner management, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration to deliver on Surface business and marketing priorities.

Lead planning and execution of transformative initiatives—such as unlocking AI transformation with Surface Copilot+, emerging markets expansion, Windows on ARM growth, 5G and Device‑as‑a‑Service expansion, and Apple competition—to accelerate market share, drive revenue growth, and position Surface as the premier AI‑ready endpoint.

Oversee the full product lifecycle from launch through end‑of‑life (EOL), ensuring seamless coordination across engineering, supply chain, finance, and marketing to maximize product impact and revenue.

Collaborate with first‑party and third‑party partners to co‑develop digital‑first go‑to‑market models, amplifying Surface’s value proposition and driving product usage and sales through strategic co‑marketing investments.

Ignite brand love and advocacy through immersive launch events, in‑person activations, and compelling storytelling that connects with fans, customers, and influencers, championing narratives that showcase Surface’s innovation and its role in empowering productivity, creativity, and digital transformation.

Maintain a consistent and resonant marketing drumbeat throughout the year, aligning internal marketing rhythms with customer journeys to ensure relevance, impact, and connection.

Support commercial and consumer field teams with roadmap disclosures, launch readiness materials, and enablement assets; engage market makers and platinum partners to grow Surface business through digital marketing, skilling, and sales acceleration.

Champion the integration of AI into marketing operations, leveraging automation across pricing tools, launch matrices, and demand planning systems to enhance scalability, precision, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 4+ years experience in business, OR Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business, OR equivalent experience.

4+ years people management experience or indirect people management experience (including virtual teams).

Preferred: Master’s Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years experience in business, OR Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 12+ years experience in business, OR equivalent experience.

6+ years people management experience.

Salary and Benefits Product Marketing M5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 – $251,900 per year. Specific ranges for San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area are USD $165,600 – $272,300 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for additional benefits and other compensation.
