Lead Economist Primarily remote, with periodic meetings in Washington, DC. Flexible engagement options: part-time SME or full-time (1.0 FTE); 1099 or W-2 employment.

About the Role Corner Alliance is supporting our Federal government client in delivering high-impact economic and policy analysis related to broadband, spectrum, and next-generation communications technologies. Our team provides expertise in financial modeling, spectrum valuation, and socio‑economic impact evaluation to help inform national policy and investment decisions. You will be trusted to provide strong analytical and project management skills to support senior subject matter experts and direct the day-to-day execution of complex economic studies.

This position will collaborate closely with senior advisors to ensure high-quality, timely, and policy‑relevant deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of economic models, forecasts, and financial analyses related to spectrum valuation, FirstNet market performance, and broadband deployment.

Translate senior economic guidance (e.g., from SME advisors) into actionable modeling and analysis tasks for the project team.

Manage data acquisition, validation, and econometric workflows in collaboration with analysts and data scientists.

Oversee day-to-day deliverables, ensuring analytical rigor, accuracy, and compliance with federal standards.

Prepare briefing materials, memos, and visualizations for client leadership and interagency stakeholders.

Coordinate closely with Corner Alliance’s Project Manager to maintain project timelines, track milestones, and report progress.

Mentor junior economists and analysts in quantitative and policy methods.

Required Experience / Skills

Bachelor’s degree.

8+ years of experience in applied economics, financial modeling, or policy analysis within telecommunications, broadband, or related sectors.

Demonstrated expertise in regulatory and market economics, particularly around infrastructure or spectrum markets.

Strong experience with data‑driven policy analysis, econometrics, and economic modeling tools (R, Python, Stata, or equivalent).

Proven ability to manage complex analyses and coordinate between technical and policy stakeholders.

Exceptional writing and presentation skills for non‑technical audiences.

US citizenship and the ability to pass public trust clearance or suitability.

Preferred Experience / Skills

Master’s or Ph.D. in Economics, Applied Economics, or related field.

Prior experience supporting federal clients (NTIA, FCC, DOC, or similar).

Salary Approximate Compensation Estimate: $75 – $115 per hour.
