What you will do The Assistant General Counsel provides the Company's employees with legal advice to help protect the Company's legal interests and to ensure that the Company complies with relevant laws, rules, and regulations on a state and federal level. Key responsibilities

Provide counsel on legal and regulatory matters pertaining to all phases of insurance operations.

Assist the General Counsel in legal (including litigation), regulatory, legislative and corporate matters.

Cooperate with and keep the General Counsel, Senior Management, and Company personnel fully informed on serious legal problems, legislation, critical new legal decisions and regulatory issues arising from the various insurance operations.

Watch and control legal expense sustained in handling of corporate legal matters.

Handle general corporate transactional work, including leases, contract reviews and vendor agreements.

Review and provide guidance on marketing materials from an intellectual property and insurance regulatory perspective.

Counsel staff and all departments of the Company on day-to-day questions of law and render legal opinions, oral or written, for the officers and members of all departments in the Company, including, but not limited to, Marketing, Human Resources, and Underwriting.

Working with the legal team, prepare and review legal documents affecting the affairs of the Company and its subsidiaries, subsidiary and affiliate company formation, licensing and dissolution and intercompany agreements.

Provide direction and advice on matters related to compliance and assess, prioritize and manage legal and regulatory compliance risks. Research regulatory matters as necessary or requested.

Investigate and coordinate responses to regulatory requests.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Conform with all corporate policies and procedures.

What you need

JD degree and successful completion of state bar examination. Must be admitted to practice in at least one state.

A minimum of 5 years of legal experience.

5 years of insurance or other regulatory experience preferred.

Experience with reviewing contracts.

Experience with employment law.

Salary range: $155,000 - $180,000
