Job Description This is a temp to hire position. We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with strong experience in construction payroll and certified payroll reporting. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate, job‑costed labor data, ensuring compliance with prevailing wages and certified payroll requirements, and communicating effectively with field supervisors to ensure the timely and accurate submission of hours.
Key Responsibilities
Process weekly payroll for all field and office employees across multiple projects.
Collect, verify, and code employee hours by job, cost code, and project.
Coordinate closely with field foremen and project managers to ensure all timecards are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
Prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports (CPR) for public works projects in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., Davis‑Bacon, City of Phoenix, etc.).
Maintain and reconcile job costing records for labor distribution and reporting in Foundation (or other construction accounting system).
Support the finance and operations team by providing payroll‑related data for job cost analysis, audits, and billing.
Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and union or prevailing wage requirements.
Handle payroll corrections, adjustments, and employee inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality.
Qualifications
3+ years of payroll experience, preferably in construction or a similar field‑based environment.
Strong communication skills – must be comfortable coordinating daily with foremen, project managers, and administrative staff.
Experience with certified payroll and understanding of prevailing wage requirements.
Familiarity with job costing and cost code allocation.
Proficiency in Foundation, Viewpoint, or similar construction accounting software.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) but not required.
