Job Description: Commercial Construction Payroll Specialist
Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
Commercial Construction Payroll Specialist
to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll for construction employees, ensuring compliance with prevailing wage laws, union agreements, multi-state tax requirements, and company policies. This role requires strong organizational skills, accuracy, and knowledge of construction payroll practices.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately process weekly/bi-weekly payroll for field and office employees in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Manage payroll for multiple job sites and states, including certified payroll and prevailing wage projects.
Prepare and submit certified payroll reports and ensure compliance with Davis-Bacon and other applicable wage laws.
Maintain accurate payroll records, employee files, and job classifications.
Administer union payroll reporting, including benefits contributions and dues deductions.
Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries in a timely manner.
Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams to ensure proper reporting and compliance.
Stay current on changes in payroll laws, tax regulations, and industry standards.
Assist with audits and provide necessary payroll documentation when required.
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Must have
2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in
commercial construction or a related industry .
Strong knowledge of certified payroll, Davis-Bacon Act, prevailing wage laws, and union payroll practices.
Experience with multi-state payroll processing and tax compliance.
Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar).
Advanced MS Excel and data entry skills.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions
Full-time position, Monday–Friday.
Office-based role with potential hybrid flexibility depending on company policy.
Occasional overtime may be required to meet payroll deadlines.
Salary Package:
$50,000 to $75,000*
Bonus (toward Health
Bonus (reimburse toward Mobile Service)
