Role Overview Join a growing, family-owned Developer/General Contractor based in Bergen County, NJ. My client is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support our management team across a range of construction projects, including commercial, public, and multi-family residential work.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands construction processes, project documentation, and coordination, and is looking to take the next step in their project management career.

Responsibilities

Support the project manager and estimator in reviewing bid invitations and scope packages.

Maintain subcontractor and vendor bid lists.

Distribute bid packages and follow up on proposals.

Assist with permitting, letters of intent, and reviewing vendor invoices.

Coordinate site logistics plans and safety manual submissions.

Manage subcontractor schedules of values, submittal logs, and RFI processes.

Create and maintain the submittal log; track and distribute submittals and approvals.

Track material and equipment lead times and support accurate project scheduling.

Help manage project meetings, take and distribute meeting minutes, and maintain records.

Maintain document control, ensuring all drawings, RFIs, and directives are current and properly logged.

Support quality control activities, including inspections, testing, and commissioning coordination.

Assist with project payment processes, including owner requisitions, subcontractor pay apps, and vendor invoices.

Support closeout documentation and project completion requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred (Engineering or Construction Management a plus).

Strong background in federal work.

3+ years of experience in assistant project management within construction.

Familiarity with project management software (ProjectSight, Procore, or similar).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Strong organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Self-motivated, eager to learn, and a team-oriented mindset.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive salary: $75,000 – $110,000, commensurate with experience.
