Job Summary
Performs highly complex agricultural work. Oversees crops and planning agricultural activities to meet production goals and objectives. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Functions
Coordinates and organizes agricultural activities; oversees and provides guidance and training in planting, cultivating, and harvesting row or garden crops; and oversees farm program operations.
Provides guidance on field preparation, irrigation, fertilizer and insecticide application, and trains staff in producing, processing, and distributing agricultural commodities.
Oversees the operation of agricultural machinery; performs construction, repair, and maintenance of agricultural facilities.
Trains and assists in developing training programs; maintains inventory of materials and supplies; prepares related correspondence and reports.
Maintains security of tools, machinery, and equipment; responds to emergency situations.
Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
Salary Position filled at Agriculture Specialist I, II, or III Pay Levels.
Agriculture Specialist I: Salary $3,537.92/month (A14). ERS Retiree Salary $3,463.82/month.
Agriculture Specialist II: Salary $3,716.86/month (A15). ERS Retiree Salary $3,638.40/month.
Agriculture Specialist III: Salary $3,906.52/month (A16). ERS Retiree Salary $3,823.44/month.
