About the Role
We’re looking for a hands‑on
Infrastructure Engineer
to design, build, and maintain the systems that power our mission‑critical environments. In this role, you’ll be responsible for provisioning and managing Windows and Linux servers running on a VMware backend, ensuring uptime, reliability, and security across both classified and unclassified networks.
You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams, lead system upgrades, and implement innovative infrastructure solutions that drive performance and scalability. This position is ideal for someone with a deep technical foundation and a passion for modern virtualization and system engineering.
What You’ll Do
Build, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers in virtualized VMware environments (ESXi, vCenter, Horizon).
Support the full system lifecycle — installation, configuration, monitoring, and patching.
Maintain and optimize backup and recovery solutions (Rubrik or similar).
Troubleshoot server, storage, and network infrastructure issues.
Collaborate with development and application teams to ensure seamless infrastructure support.
Implement and enforce security controls in accordance with organizational and government regulations.
Document configurations, changes, and procedures using an internal ticketing system.
Participate in testing and integration of new hardware, software, and system upgrades.
Provide after‑hours on‑call support as part of a rotation.
Maintain accurate asset inventory and licensing documentation.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
10+ years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering.
Proficiency with Windows Server 2019/2022, Linux OS, VMware ESXi/vCenter.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and basic routing protocols.
Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and patch management tools (WSUS/SCCM).
Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and automation.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Cisco or Palo Alto firewalls and networking devices.
Familiarity with VOIP, Cisco Call Manager, or similar systems.
Experience working within SCIF or classified environments.
Security+ CE or 8570‑compliant certification (required at start).
Exposure to reverse engineering tools, build‑machine setup, or software development support.
