About Camp Potlatch Located on 133 acres along Howe Sound, Camp Potlatch is a rustic wilderness site offering a natural gateway into the rugged landscape of British Columbia’s South Coast. Though only an hour from Vancouver, the camp is isolated in pristine wilderness and is accessible only by boat. Wildlife sightings include whales, seals, porpoises, bears, and bald eagles.
Camp Potlatch provides a fun, safe camping experience for children and youth ages 7‑16, offering programs such as canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, archery, fire building, and shelter building, as well as 24‑hour out‑trips.
About This Position The Program Director infuses fun into all aspects of Camp Potlatch’s overnight summer programs. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, enthusiastic, and sees the big picture. Overseeing Area Heads, the Program Director ensures campers experience age‑appropriate and engaging activities that foster growth and development.
Responsibilities The Program Director is expected to be highly visible around camp, run programs throughout the day, and provide daily feedback to Area Heads and Cabin Leaders. Other duties include creating meal skits and evening programs, running meals and campfires, and participating in all camp‑wide programming.
Requirements
Must be at least 19 years old by July 1, 2025
Experience as a Cabin Leader, Area Head, or Day Camp Leader at an overnight or day camp
Post‑secondary courses/training in a related field preferred
Experience with wilderness out‑tripping preferred
Experience facilitating a variety of camp or day camp programming for youth
Available to work the duration of the summer contract (June 21‑August 22, 2025)
Clean Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
Required Certifications (Must Obtain Before June 21)
Standard First Aid with CPR “C”
National Lifeguard (NL)
Pleasure Craft Operators License
FOODSAFE Level 1
Preferred Certifications
Belay Training
Provincial Canoe/Kayak Levels
Clean Class 4 Driver’s License or equivalent
Working at Camp Potlatch
Summer living and working on the ocean
Meals and accommodation provided
Transportation (pick up and drop off from downtown Vancouver)
Every other weekend off (flexibility required)
Paid training
Access to Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Up to 2 paid sick days following 30 days of employment
Paid birthday off (June through August)

Salary Starting at $168/day
