The Silicon Valley Boychoir is a 501(c)3 non‑profit arts organization located in Palo Alto, CA. Our mission is to train boys (ages 7‑18) in the choral art with a focus on music literacy and the highest artistic standards. We aim to equip boys with life‑long skills and prepare them to become skilled tenors and basses and leaders in their future choirs.
Role Description This is a part‑time on‑site role in Palo Alto as the Choir Director for the Concert Choir (treble intermediate vocal ensemble) which rehearses Tuesday afternoons, 4‑6 pm. The Concert Director will be responsible for leading rehearsals, reinforcing sight‑reading skills, coaching vocal technique, conducting performances with the boys and communicating with parents. The Director will also collaborate with other staff members on repertoire selection and performances. Begins January 2026.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in choral music, vocal music, or music education
Be able to demonstrate a good choral tone in the soprano and alto registers
Ability to work with boys and inspire their love for music
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Familiar with Curwen hand signs
Some piano skills; a piano accompanist will be provided for half of the rehearsal
