Dean of Instruction Olive-Harvey College

is looking for a Dean of Instruction to direct, manage, and provide leadership in all instructional and academic support systems within the college's credit programs. The Dean of Instruction promotes and coordinates programs, curriculum, and course development and evaluation. The Dean of Instruction reports to the Sr. Vice President of Academic Affairs and has managerial responsibilities over Associate Dean of Instruction, Assistant Dean of Instruction, full-time/part‑time faculty, and administrative staff associated with the program.

Responsibilities

Review courses to ensure they comply with the goals and objectives of the program; coordinate the revision of instructional materials each academic year.

Conduct in‑service programs for all full and part‑time faculty and orientation meetings with new academic staff.

Direct and supervise faculty associated with the programs; provide necessary support for staff to accomplish course objectives; advise staff on areas of improvement; evaluate faculty and provide constructive feedback per Board/Union Agreement.

Work with the Director of Planning and Development to prepare college credit grant applications and coordinate research projects.

Prepare departmental budgets; monitor expenditures of restricted and unrestricted funds.

Coordinate courses, curricula, and program development, evaluation, and follow‑up.

Perform faculty evaluations, including tenure process and faculty development week duties.

Provide leadership to Research and Assessment Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, and related groups.

Assist students in achieving their academic goals; investigate written complaints per established procedures.

Coordinate and prepare HLC self‑study document and ICCB Program Review.

Collaborate with the Vice President regarding general college operational processes; serve as primary liaison.

Supervise department chairpersons and coordinate monthly chairperson meetings.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and thirty (30) graduate hours in a related field; Doctorate preferred.

Five (5) years teaching in a higher‑education setting.

Minimum two (2) years administrative experience as Department Chair, Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, or Program Coordinator.

Active participation or exposure to higher education accreditation procedures, articulation processes, and program review.

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement activities focused on assessment of student learning.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity and multiculturalism in work experience.

Experience preferred working within a unionized setting.

Demonstrated ability to create a learning environment that fosters student success and innovation.

Demonstrated collaborative approach to engaging faculty and staff.

Demonstrated ability to develop a technologically integrated environment that fosters innovation within a learning organization.

Benefits & Salary Excellent benefits at a low cost; investment plans 403(b) & 457(b); SURS retirement plan; generous vacation, holidays, personal & sick days plus tuition reimbursement. Salary Range: $104,775 – $120,000 annually. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
