Senior User Researcher (Quantitative)
Work with Product and Design teams to guide the future of our business by generating actionable insights that ensure our products and services meet the everyday needs of our users. You will act as a critical link between our users and our business while driving innovation across DigitalOcean’s cloud and AI products.
Responsibilities
Lead targeted research from end-to-end: design and conduct strategic and tactical research initiatives that inform high-level business goals and product roadmaps. Manage the full research lifecycle, from planning and recruiting to analysis, synthesis, and final reporting.
Generate actionable insights from disparate data sources: develop and optimize continuous research mechanisms to aggregate and integrate data into a cohesive narrative. Translate complex data into clear insights that drive product decisions and champion the voice of the customer.
Influence, advocate, and mentor: build and maintain strong cross‑functional partnerships with product, design, and technical leaders to embed the user perspective. Mentor researchers and coach extended teams to elevate the quality of practice and increase the organization’s user‑centricity.
Contribute to our research practice: advance research methods, guidelines, and documentation. Evaluate and integrate new tooling, manage the centralized research repository, and increase the accessibility and impact of all insights.
Qualifications
5–8 years’ experience planning, conducting, and communicating findings from user research for digital products and services, ideally with a focus on technical users.
BS or MS in Interaction Design, HCI, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or equivalent experience.
Excellent ability to understand and articulate user needs and to generate and communicate compelling, actionable insights.
Demonstrated experience managing large‑scale research initiatives and influencing cross‑functional teams.
Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, with ability to select and combine approaches to deliver actionable insights; experience in market research is a plus.
Proven ability to apply quantitative methods—statistical modeling, behavioral data analysis, experimental design.
Strong understanding of large‑scale data pipelines and how to work with data engineering teams.
Proficient in SQL, data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.), and statistical software (R, Python, SPSS, etc.).
Expert understanding of the digital product lifecycle and ability to collaborate successfully with designers, technical, and business teams.
Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with ability to influence leaders as well as peers.
Previous experience within the cloud computing industry is preferred.
Compensation
$140,000 – $177,000
