Retail Superintendent Job Type: Full-time, exempt
Pay: $80,000.00 to $100,000 per year
Reports to: Director of Construction
Traveling required
Job Summary Under the general supervision of management, the Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing new construction projects as well as remodeling of existing buildings. This role involves managing field operations, supervising site crews, ensuring project timelines and budgets are met, and upholding the highest safety and quality standards.
Duties
Organize, coordinate, and supervise the work of crews and skilled trades on construction projects.
Set work priorities and manage coordination across teams and departments; assign tasks based on individual capabilities and specialized training.
Oversee new construction and major remodeling efforts, including scheduling meetings and reviewing/distributing project documents such as contracts, blueprints, and specifications.
Collaborate with management and administrative teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Monitor project costs, maintain accurate records, and ensure efficient use of labor and materials.
Maintain control over construction progress to ensure timely project completion; manage daily scheduling of tasks and operations.
Estimate manpower and materials needed for specific projects.
Lead site inspections and ensure all work is completed in accordance with plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
Provide guidance and solutions for job‑related challenges.
Serve as a point of contact for external stakeholders, vendors, and project partners.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in the construction trades.
Minimum of 4 years in the construction field. Formal education may substitute some field experience requirements.
Broad knowledge of all phases of commercial construction and trades.
Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems.
Familiarity with construction tools, equipment, materials, and associated costs.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications.
Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Intermediate to advanced computer skills including programs such as Microsoft Office.
Capable of building and maintaining effective relationships with team members, vendors, and clients.
Flexible work schedule, including availability for nights and weekends.
Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
Willingness to travel out of town as needed.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Reliable transportation.
Maintain a high standard of safety by enforcing safety culture on job sites, and completing safety trainings/meetings.
