About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Traveling Mechanical Superintendent to oversee and manage HVAC, piping, and plumbing installations on commercial and industrial construction projects across the country. This role is ideal for a hands‑on leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is passionate about delivering high‑quality mechanical systems on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Oversight: Supervise and coordinate all on‑site mechanical activities, including HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and timelines.
Team Leadership: Direct and manage field crews and subcontractors, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence.
Technical Execution: Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to ensure accurate installation and system integration.
Scheduling & Coordination: Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinate with general contractors, other trades, and project managers to ensure seamless workflow.
Safety Compliance: Enforce company and OSHA safety policies, conduct regular site inspections, and lead safety meetings.
Communication: Serve as the primary on‑site liaison between the project team, clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Materials & Logistics: Manage procurement, delivery, and inventory of mechanical materials and equipment.
Quality Control: Monitor workmanship and conduct inspections to ensure systems meet design intent and quality standards.
Reporting: Maintain daily logs, progress reports, and documentation for project tracking and closeout.
Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems in commercial and industrial settings.
Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
OSHA 30 certification required; additional safety certifications a plus.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively (75–100%) to project sites nationwide.
Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with large‑scale commercial or industrial projects (e.g., hospitals, data centers, manufacturing facilities).
Familiarity with BIM coordination and lean construction practices.
Journeyman or Master Plumbing or HVAC license is a plus.
