Senior Radar Signal Processing Engineer in United
Energy Jobline ZR, Charleston, West Virginia, United States
Why LeoLabs?
At LeoLabs, we’re building the living map of activity in space. Through our proprietary global radar network and AI‑enabled analytics platform, we collect millions of measurements daily on more than 241,000 objects in low Earth orbit (LEO). Our radar‑powered intelligence protects billions in assets, monitors adversarial behavior, and ensures safe operations for commercial and government missions.
We’re not just building technology; we are redefining global security, safety, and transparency in space. As orbital activity accelerates and threats grow more complex, LeoLabs is a trusted partner for Space Domain Awareness, Space Traffic Management, and Satellite Operations for top‑tier space operators and allied defense organizations.
If you’re looking to work on mission‑critical challenges at the forefront of aerospace, security, and AI, your impact starts here.
What You’ll Do Senior Radar Signal Processing Engineer
As a Radar Signal Processing Engineer, you’ll be part of the core team developing and deploying signal processing capabilities across LeoLabs’ next‑radar systems. This role is ideal for engineers with hands‑on radar system experience who are passionate about building production‑ready DSP pipelines and supporting real‑world deployments.
You’ll work closely with experts in radar hardware, systems engineering, and operations to turn complex mission needs into fielded, high‑performance radar solutions.
Design and implement radar signal processing algorithms focused on detection, tracking, and characterization of space objects
Work with raw radar data (IQ, time‑series, etc.) to extract actionable information in real‑time or near‑real‑time systems
Support end‑to‑end development: from simulation and prototyping to deployment and performance validation on real‑world radar systems
Collaborate across teams to design new radars or capabilities
Analyze system performance, identify optimization opportunities, and help refine radar capabilities over time
What We’re Looking For Minimum Qualifications
5 years of experience in radar signal processing or related DSP roles
Experience working with a variety of sensor systems across multiple platforms and operations environments
Proficiency with DSP and radar fundamentals (e.g., range/Doppler processing, CFAR, filtering, detection theory, Fourier Transforms)
Strong software skills in Python, C, or C++ for algorithm development
Direct engineering contributions to developing production radar systems or similar operational technologies
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams and articulate technical justifications clearly
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical field
Familiarity with radar system design from concept to deployment
Experience with modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, Python‑based frameworks)
Exposure to control systems and large‑scale data analysis workflows
Experience deploying to GPU environments or optimizing algorithms for real‑time processing
Familiarity with tracking algorithms, Kalman filters, or radar parameter estimation techniques
U.S. citizenship and/or security clearance is a plus but not required
Perks and Benefits
Global workforce: flexible remote/hybrid opportunities
Work on complex, meaningful missions with real‑world impact
Unlimited paid time off for most roles
Competitive salary and equity packages
Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
Access to the forefront of commercial space operations and defense innovation
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or other protected class.
