Position Overview To support ValvTechnologies weld production and inspections of all incoming and outgoing weldments and components. The Inspector will support the inspection department in maintaining welder qualification records (WQR), procedure qualification records (PQR) per applicable welding codes and standards. The inspector ensures production welds are performed per applicable welding procedure specifications (WPS). The role also reviews and maintains welder continuity logs, ensuring all welder and weld qualifications are current and up-to-date. The successful candidate must maintain his/her AWS CWI certification while employed.

Job Responsibilities

Test and inspect welds and cuts in accordance with established ValvTechnologies production and quality control guidelines.

Ensure strict technical specification and application/customer requirement compliance during production.

Confirm that the materials match the sales order documentation and station requirements.

Check orders for accuracy and proper welds.

Write sales order and job numbers on parts destined for vendors or production.

Perform housekeeping and thorough safety checks of equipment.

Conduct daily safety checks of all gas equipment, notifying Production Manager if issues arise.

Ensure all equipment, including gas cylinders, are properly stored and secured.

Perform any other work-related functions as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Complete all incoming and outgoing inspections of parts to the welding department.

Assist the welding manager with direction of welders and jobs in the shop.

Handle all quality needs for welding QA, work orders, and dimensional checks.

Ensure weld maps are filled out correctly and all production components are hard-stamped using welder stencils.

Basic Qualifications

Must possess a current AWS CWI certification, or

Have previously held an AWS CWI certification with the ability to recertify within 60 days of employment.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

Knowledgeable in ASME code standards such as B31.3, B31.1, Sec IX.

Knowledgeable in structural welding codes such as AWS D1.1.

Ability to interpret blueprints related to welding assemblies.

Proficiency with measuring tools such as dial calipers, height gauges, measuring tape, micrometers, and I.D & O.D calipers.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word.

Knowledgeable in other NDE methods such as RT, PT, UT, and MT; must be able to read and interpret RT film.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to collaborate with product, manufacturing & production engineers to solve welding-related issues.

Serve as a safety role model, consistently demonstrating safe work practices.

Participate in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

Comply with safety instructions for the safety of self and others.

Remain vigilant and report injuries, hazards, or illnesses immediately.
