Duties Under general supervision, perform assignments which require the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in civil engineering in carrying out a sequence of related design engineering tasks. Prepare plan details and outlines, identify quantities of materials, cost estimates and perform calculations for specific projects. Assist in the preparation of technical specifications using computer software. Review and approve design drawings based on technical knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), roadway lighting, signalization and applicable design and construction criteria, FDOT standards and specifications. Prepare technical reports (Lighting and ITS) to deliver project information to clients and stakeholders. From time to time, perform field tests & measurements, collect field data, and use computer software to present findings to management. Aid and support a project team or project manager for deliverables required for site/civil engineering projects, including but not limited to contract design plans, calculations and engineering documents. Coordinate with other engineers regarding various tasks and support other engineers to collectively complete project deliverables on time with minimum oversight.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field and 2 years of related experience.

Related experience must be in civil engineering roadway design and proficient in the areas of Intelligent Transportation Systems, lighting, and signalization.

Must have experience in civil engineering transportation technology (ITS, signalization, lighting) including knowledge of closed‑circuit television camera systems (CCTV), vehicle detection systems (microwave, Bluetooth), dynamic message signs, fiber optic communications, lighting photometric analysis, and signalization plans design.

Experience in utilizing various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment, including MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, GuideSIGN and AGI32.

Up to 100% Remote work but may have site visit or in person meeting requirements.
