Position Overview:
The Senior HR Manager is responsible for all site-based human resources functions at the Spring Valley Project. This position plays a critical role in developing and maintaining a safe, compliant, and productive workforce as the project transitions from development to construction and operations.
The Senior HR Manager will oversee all aspects of employee relations, workforce planning, recruitment, training, and compliance for both staff and contractors working on-site. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable handling day-to-day HR logistics as they are advising leadership on workforce strategy. This is a hands-on role suited for someone who thrives in a fast-moving, practical, and operational environment.
Job Responsibilities: Lead all HR functions for the Spring Valley site, including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, compliance, and training. Partner closely with site leadership, safety, and operations teams to ensure workforce needs are met and personnel are aligned with project goals. Partner with centralized HR and Talent Acquisition teams on recruitment and onboarding of hourly, technical, and supervisory site employees; coordinate with contractors on labor planning and compliance. Administer compensation, benefits, timekeeping, and leave management for the site workforce. Oversee performance management and progressive discipline in accordance with company policies and state/federal employment law. Maintain HR records, ensure compliance with MSHA and state regulations. Lead workforce reporting, turnover tracking, and site headcount updates. Serve as the primary point of contact for employees Support training and development initiatives, including safety onboarding and leadership training for supervisors. Collaborate with leadership to foster a respectful, safety-oriented site culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and communication. Coordinate HR audits, maintain personnel files, and ensure compliance readiness for inspections or reporting requirements. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience). 8+ years of HR experience in mining, construction, or other heavy industrial environments. Strong understanding of Nevada employment laws, labor regulations, and industry-specific compliance requirements. Deep knowledge of HR best practices within mining and field-based operations. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with local workforce partners, government representatives, and community organizations. Active participation in local and national HR or mining industry organizations (e.g., Nevada Mining Association, SHRM), with a commitment to staying current on evolving HR and legal standards. Demonstrated success managing a mixed workforce (staff and contractors) in remote or project-based environments. High level of emotional intelligence (EQ) with excellent communication skills; ability to influence and lead through collaboration. Proficiency with HRIS and Microsoft Office applications. PHR or SHRM-CP/SPHR certification preferred but not required.
