Director of Nursing
(DON) to oversee all nursing services for the facility. This leader will be responsible for shaping nursing standards, ensuring clinical excellence, and guiding the nursing team's day-to-day performance. The role requires someone who brings strong nursing leadership experience and who understands the unique clinical considerations involved in detox, residential treatment, and behavioral health environments. A key priority for this position is the ability to effectively recruit, onboard, and retain strong nurses. The ideal candidate will have meaningful experience as a DON or ADON in a detox, addiction treatment, psychiatric, or behavioral health setting, and will understand how to build and lead a nursing team that is reliable, compassionate, skilled, and aligned with organizational expectations. Responsibilities
Oversee all nursing operations and functions to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality patient care across all shifts and levels of care. Provide hands-on leadership, supervision, and ongoing development of the nursing staff, including orientation, coaching, performance feedback, and accountability reinforcement. Actively recruit and hire qualified nursing candidates, leveraging professional networks, industry knowledge, and referral contacts to build a strong team. Create and manage nursing schedules, staffing plans, and workflow structures to ensure adequate clinical coverage at all times. Work closely with medical staff, clinical therapists, and operational leadership to support integrated care planning that aligns medical interventions with therapeutic treatment goals. Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including state licensing requirements, healthcare safety standards, documentation protocols, and best practices related to withdrawal management and patient monitoring. Develop, revise, and implement nursing policies, procedures, and clinical protocols to support consistent care delivery and regulatory readiness. Maintain oversight of medication administration processes, including proper documentation, secure handling, and adherence to prescribing guidelines. Lead initiatives that support patient safety, clinical quality, infection control, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement. Experience serving as a Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing, preferably within a substance use treatment program, detox unit, psychiatric care facility, or behavioral health environment.
