Description of Work This position serves as the Program Manager for the Surveillance for Healthcare-Associated and Resistant Pathogens Patient Safety (SHARPPS) Program within the Division of Public Health. The role provides statewide leadership in the surveillance, prevention, and control of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial-resistant pathogens. The position oversees program operations, supervises epidemiologists, and collaborates with federal, state, and local partners to ensure compliance with CDC cooperative agreement requirements. It also functions as the primary epidemiologic subject matter expert for SHARPPS, guiding outbreak response, data analysis, and policy development.
Key Duties Include: - Serve as lead epidemiologist for surveillance and response to healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial-resistant pathogens.
-Supervise SHARPPS Program epidemiologists and support staff, providing technical guidance and performance oversight.
- Coordinate outbreak investigations and lead on-site infection control assessments in collaboration with local and federal partners.
- Develop and maintain program policies, protocols, and guidance documents in alignment with state and federal standards.
-Oversee the production and dissemination of high-quality surveillance reports and epidemiologic data to stakeholders.
- Manage the SHARPPS Advisory Group and maintain partnerships with public health agencies, healthcare providers, and academic institutions.
- Collaborate with the Program Medical Director to develop and implement a statewide antimicrobial stewardship plan.
- Provide input into the CDC Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) cooperative agreement and monitor SHARPPS-related activities and metrics.
- Pursue external funding opportunities and manage program budgets to support strategic goals and staffing needs.
- Develop and implement a program evaluation plan to assess progress toward infection prevention and antimicrobial resistance mitigation objectives.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Grade Range: $69,027.00 - $113,896.00 Recruitment range: $69,027.00 - $88,400.00

Proven experience supervising professional epidemiology staff, including setting performance expectations, providing technical mentorship, or managing workload distribution to meet program deliverables. Experience developing and managing budgets, including oversight of cooperative agreement funding, contract monitoring, or alignment of expenditures with strategic goals.
