The Opportunity: The Mid-level Ship Structural Engineer role is a unique career opportunity to be part of a team of naval architects, structural engineers, and designers, providing structural designs and solutions for US Navy and USCG ships. Opportunity to support CACI's client site offices at NSWC-Carderock and the Washington D.C. Navy Yard, and opportunity for hybrid positions. Opportunity to work with customers such as MSC, NSWC, NAVSEA, and USCG. Responsibilities:

Develop finite element models of ship structure, including creating geometry and finite element mesh. Design equipment foundations and other ship structures for new and existing ships. Perform structural calculations using first-principles formulas and using finite element software. Assist with development of structural drawings. Document methods, assumptions, and results in reports. Apply regulatory rules, industry standards, and customer requirements to develop conforming designs and pass/fail criteria. Perform Shipyard and/or design Contract Deliverable reviews for Contract Specification SOWs, regulatory, and technical compliance. Interface with customers, vendors, shipyards, and internal team members. Train less experienced engineers. Qualifications: Required:

Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the marine industry. Minimum of 1 year of experience performing finite element modeling and analysis. Familiarity with finite element modeling and analysis in HyperWorks/HyperMesh Experience reading and creating drawings using AutoCAD. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Detail-oriented and able to work in fast-paced work environment. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to speak and write clearly in English. Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time. U.S. Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility. Desired:

US Navy or USCG surface ship design, operations, or maintenance experience. Experience with US Navy, USCG, and/or US commercial ship design standards. Proficiency with 3D CAD, such as SolidWorks. Experience with US Navy shock, vibration, and survivability standards. Experience with design/analysis of aluminum structures. Experience with corrosion inspection/prediction. Experience performing metal fatigue calculations. Experience performing mooring analyses. Experience with performing weights and stability calculations.
