License: Must have ARRT registration in Radiology (R) and Mammography (M) Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or must obtain within 90 days of hire or transfer)

Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program Two years prior experience as a practicing Radiologic Technologist

Description: The Mammography Technologist is responsible for the quality and efficient completion of radiologic procedures for diagnostic interpretation. They are responsible for providing patient education and quality patient care while meeting all regulatory compliance. The Mammography Technologist is responsible for the daily operation of the women's health section of radiology. They are tasked with suggesting changes in procedures, policies, and quality improvement. Coordination of training and development in breast imaging specialties is also included in their duties. The Mammography Technologist adheres to all FDA guidelines for the mammography section. They maintain appropriate records for all accreditation processes and inspections. The Technologist maintains the structured reporting system to ensure accurate audit reporting, statistical tracking, and resolution of workflow issues. They ensure completion of daily quality assurance and preventive maintenance scheduling. The incumbent demonstrates advanced knowledge of mammography imaging procedures. They perform all exams based on Imaging Department protocols or protocols established with the Radiologist. Practicing radiation safety and adhering to ALARA standards are essential functions. The Mammography Technologist is able to operate equipment consistent with the manufacturer's recommendations. They troubleshoot equipment problems and independently call a service engineer if the malfunction requires outside maintenance. Verification of exam orders and patient identification through two means is necessary. Providing exam education, reviewing, and documenting the patient's medical history is critical. They obtain required informed consent and ensure all necessary paperwork and prior studies are available before submitting procedures for interpretation. Maintaining accurate patient records in electronic health records, including charging for procedures and supplies, is vital. The Technologist may be required to perform other functions within the clinic, and any additional training required will be provided. Demonstrating flexibility by assisting in other modalities, adjusting schedules, and taking call, overtime, or holiday shifts as needed is essential. The Mammography Technologist is responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining supply inventory. They should be self-motivated, use independent judgment, and be able to work with minimal supervision. Assisting, training, or cross-training imaging staff members as directed is part of their role.
