Commercial Building Engineer

A Prominent Real Estate Firm is seeking a Commercial Building Engineer to lead and assist with hands-on preventative maintenance of building systems in the Charlotte, NC region. Specializing in the development and management of a large portfolio of Class-A Property, this is a highly regarded organization with a strong track record of success. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Class-A property maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems. Responsibilities Assist in the maintenance of building systems for the safe, efficient, and proper operations of assigned properties. Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of commercial, retail, and mixed-use properties. Monitor and maintain building automation systems to optimize energy efficiency and tenant comfort. Monitor and manage building performance to meet sustainability and energy efficiency goals. Troubleshoot and address HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems promptly and efficiently. Coordinate and oversee contracted services for specialized repairs and maintenance tasks. Collaborate with property management teams to plan and execute capital improvements projects. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes, conducting regular safety inspections. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment specifications.

Requirements Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial building maintenance and engineering, preferably with Class-A Commercial Property. Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Building Operator Certification (BOC) is a plus. Familiarity with building automation systems and energy efficiency management. Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and safety standards. Experience with budgeting, cost estimation, and vendor management. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally with tenants, vendors, and city officials. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
