Are you an experienced machinist looking for a challenging role in a dynamic and innovative manufacturing environment? We are seeking a Permanent Lead Machinist to join our team and play a vital role in the production process. This is a unique opportunity to utilize your skills and experience in CNC machining to lead a team and drive efficiency and productivity. As a Permanent Lead Machinist, you will be responsible for overseeing all machining operations, ensuring quality control, and mentoring junior machinists.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and lead a team of machinists, providing guidance and mentorship to junior members. Oversee all CNC machining operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality control. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc. Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc. Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function. Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines. Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly. Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality. Adhere to all safety protocol, including use of personal protective equipment and ensuring machinery and tools are in safe operating condition. Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to maintain current knowledge in the field.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or completion of a machinist apprenticeship preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC machinist is required. Proven experience as a lead or supervisory machinist is strongly preferred. In-depth knowledge of the working properties of metals and other materials. Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical documents and drawings. Computer savvy with a detailed understanding of computer-aided design (CAD) software. Mechanical aptitude and good math skills. A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
