Position Overview CMS Energy is seeking a highly skilled

Electrical Engineer IV

to support the development and execution of renewable generation projects, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are designed, integrated, and implemented effectively. This role requires hands-on experience with electrical systems, programmable devices, and substation or generation plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

Provide engineering and integration support for programmable/configurable devices, substation network devices, and legacy electrical devices in electric substations and generation plants. Assist in the detailed design of multiple projects, supporting CAD design drawings produced by the I&C Division. Develop, test, and integrate intelligent electrical devices (IEDs), including programmable automation controllers, RTUs, protective relays, meters, transformer monitors/controllers, and other control devices. Support renewable energy projects (3-4 concurrent projects), ensuring electrical design and integration requirements are met. Work hands-on in a lab environment to prototype systems, set up tests, and connect/integrate devices. Collaborate with diverse teams, including mechanical, civil, and electrical engineers, to support successful project execution. Maintain clear communication with internal stakeholders and project teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and highly self-motivated. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word). Experience with programmable/configurable devices, such as RTUs, regulator, and recloser controls (desired). Familiarity with IEC-61131 programming suite, DNP 3.0 protocol (serial and IP), and VB.NET or other high-level programming languages (desired). Prior experience with generation plants, substations, or utilities is preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license

not required .

Work Environment

Hybrid role with in-office presence required Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Hands-on work in lab and field environments supporting generation projects.
