REGIONAL federal credit union, a leading provider of banking products and financial services serving Northwest Indiana, is looking for a Full‑Time Manager—Accounting and Cards to join our team at the Hammond location.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Accounting and Cards team to maximize productivity, efficiency and potential; assist in hiring, job assignment direction, performance monitoring, coaching, and training.
- Oversee accounting functions: AP, AR, cash flow, financial reporting, general ledger, ACH, Share Draft, Remote Deposit and Bill Pay processing.
- Develop, assess, and complete monthly department reports.
- Perform and oversee internal audit procedures (cash counts, teller drawer audits, account reviews, wire transfers, etc.).
- Develop, implement, and evaluate procedures for the Accounting and Cards department, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with rules and regulations governing plastic cards; manage plastic card stock, monitor fraud reports, and communicate issues with the team.
- Review and evaluate credit/debit/ATM card applications and orders based on credit union policies; advise on authorizations exceeding established limits; review credit limit increases, name changes and card maintenance procedures.
- Validate general ledger reconciliation and Visa billings reconciliation; report concerns to the CEO.
- Track and report cash management; maintain daily branch teller cash totals, vault totals and miscellaneous items.
- Maintain a motivated, well‑trained team; evaluate performance regularly and resolve conflicts.
- Recommend and implement processes to streamline accounting and card procedures.
- Ensure cashier and teller transactions are courteous, efficient, cross‑sell services and meet weekly goal requirements.
- Send/receive member wire transfers, investment wires and Western Union wires.
- Cross‑train team duties, segregate responsibilities, hold periodic meetings, recommend improvements to leadership and keep the team up to date on trends and general credit union information.
- Support accounting and card operations; conduct special studies and projects per management; liaise with regulatory agency examiners and auditors; perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
- 2+ years in accounting‑related field.
- 1–2 years general banking experience.
- 1–2 years management experience.
- Proven track record in creating a sales culture, achieving goals, and coaching teams.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail for accuracy.
- Working knowledge of MS Windows and Office products.
