The
Sr. IT Project Manager
is a senior professional responsible for driving the delivery of strategic, top-priority technical projects. This role requires interaction with senior management and significant financial investment. You will provide effective cross-project coordination to ensure projects align with the strategic vision and maintain cohesiveness across initiatives. You will follow the American Heart Association's project methodology for technology delivery and ensure outcomes align with the organization’s enterprise business strategies, technical architecture, compliance, governance, and digital governance points. You will establish work priorities for staff and vendors to achieve project objectives and serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on key program, product, and project initiatives.

Responsibilities
Manages strategic coordination across several high-impact initiatives and related projects. Initiates, plans, executes, monitors, controls, and closes assigned executive-sponsored or multi-level complex projects. Assigned projects may include strategic, top-priority efforts with high visibility and significant financial investment.
Owns and ensures complex deliverables align with business strategic vision and revenue goals by acting as Project Manager, Business Analyst, Program or Product SME, Quality Assurance advisor, or stand-in as needed.
Establishes work priorities and directs efforts of personnel (including consultants or contractors) involved in project-controlled tasks. Provides expedient response, resolution of roadblocks, risk mitigation, and priority re-evaluation for the team.
Provides analysis and consultation to determine project requirements and scope.
Develops initial scope, project plans, and forecasts resource scheduling needs. Identifies scope, provides insight, and takes action to resolve issues and mitigate risks. Monitors project performance using KPIs and makes necessary adjustments.
Identifies, models, and leverages project management best practices. Applies waterfall, agile, and hybrid methodologies to set standards of delivery across the organization.
Troubleshoots project and change management problems and develops plans to meet timelines and budgets. Anticipates risks and issues, establishes options for mitigation, and acts as the initial point of contact for escalated issues, ensuring timely resolution.
Drives for rapid closure on unresolved concerns by seeking leadership guidance and maintaining project awareness with senior leadership.
Champions and sets governance standards, controls project changes, and manages related communications. Builds strong relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders and influences decision-making within project scope. Mentors project teams and other project managers across the organization.
Manages capital asset and project operational expenses within the project budget. Provides ROI analysis for high-dollar projects (over $5K).
Performs other duties as required within the scope of the role.
Qualifications
5 years minimum prior relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Extensive experience working with multiple vendors in complex environments with many integrations.
Experience managing high-profile, high-revenue projects with cross-departmental teams (infrastructure networking, security, engineering, data architecture, support, development).
Experience presenting project overviews and updates to senior and executive leadership.
Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions or similar complex scenarios involving change management, multiple vendors, and high-pressure deadlines.
Experience creating and maintaining project artifacts (RAID logs, project plans, cutover plans, vendor RFPs, charters, requirements, status decks).
Ability to work in a fast-changing environment and wear multiple hats as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
8 years minimum prior relevant experience leading highly complex projects.
7 years minimum prior relevant experience with SaaS systems and integrations.
