Job Description:

Clinical Data Strategy and Operations (CDSO) is an industry-leading data management team that leverages top talent, lean processes, and state-of-the-art technology to deliver high-quality, fit-for-purpose clinical data. The Director of Clinical Data Management Operations leads a global workforce that supports an assigned therapeutic area(s) within AbbVie’s clinical trial portfolio. The Director is responsible for executing the CDSO operating model, managing talent acquisition and development, ensuring quality control, driving continuous improvement, and integrating operations with technology.

Responsibilities

Accountable for the execution via the CDSO operating model and for preservation of its integrity.

Develops and empowers a leadership team that brings operations and domain expertise.

Ensures the standard for talent used to drive CDSO talent acquisition and development, and to differentiate the operations workforce.

Develops a culture that inspires personnel to question norms and to execute with excellence.

Maintains speed and quality with flexibility and agility in a volatile environment.

Provides oversight and fluid management of global operations resource allocation.

Participates in industry consortiums as an AbbVie representative.

Executes strategic road maps with CDSO and R&D peers.

Represents AbbVie with regulatory authorities during inspections and queries.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, PhD) preferred.

10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or an operations leadership role; 5+ years managing matrix teams.

Broad business orientation with advanced operations philosophy and methodology.

Crisp, clear communication in written and oral forms.

Neutral mindset, evidence-based decision making, and result orientation.

Performance management and behavioral modeling.

Creative and analytical thinker capable of generating novel ideas and using data for decisions.

Strong networking, influence, and relationship building across functions.

Ability to work across functional and geographical boundaries.

Inspires a global workforce toward delivery of the highest quality clinical data.
