Job Description Clinical Data Strategy and Operations (CDSO) is an industry-leading data management team that leverages top talent, lean processes, and state‑of‑the‑art technology to deliver high‑quality, fit‑for‑purpose clinical data. The Director of Clinical Data Management Operations is a global leader accountable for supporting an assigned therapeutic area(s) within AbbVie’s clinical trial portfolio. The Director supports the operating model, talent acquisition, performance management, process development, quality control, continuous improvement, and change management, and works with the CDSO technology team to ensure seamless integration of operations and technology.

Responsibilities

Accountable for the execution via the CDSO operating model and for preservation of its integrity.

Develops and empowers a leadership team that brings operations and domain expertise, unique perspectives, ability to inspire and influence, eagerness to co‑create, and an ingrained sense of ownership and accountability for successful execution.

Ensures the standard for talent used to drive CDSO talent acquisition and development, and to differentiate the operations workforce is adhered to and perpetuated.

Develops a culture that inspires personnel to question norms, be intrapreneurial, debate, and take pride in execution and facilitate others to execute; promotes balance between work and life.

Uses the CDSO operating model to achieve flexibility and agility while maintaining speed and quality in a volatile environment.

Provides oversight and fluid management of global operations resource allocation spanning employees, contractors, and functional service provider resources.

Participates in and contributes to industry consortiums as a critical AbbVie representative.

Executes strategic road maps with CDSO peers and R&D functions; supports validation of proposed strategy through alignment with leadership.

Represents AbbVie with regulatory authorities to support inspections and queries.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees (MBA, PhD) preferred.

10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or operations leadership; 5+ years managing matrix teams.

Broad business orientation with advanced operations philosophy and methodology.

Crisp and clear communication in written and oral forms.

Neutral mindset, evidence‑based decision making.

Ability to model and manage performance behaviors, and teach by example.

Creative and analytical thinker; generate novel ideas and use data for decisions.

Demonstrated ability to network, influence at multiple levels and across functions, and build strong relationships.

Ability to work across functional and geographical boundaries to deliver results.

Ability to inspire the global workforce toward a singular purpose: delivery of clinical data of the highest quality.

Compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

Eligible to participate in short‑term incentive programs.

Eligible to participate in long‑term incentive programs.
