The Director of Practical Nurse Education is a 12-month position, responsible for serving as administrator of record for the Practical Nursing program. The Director collaborates with the Senior Director of Nurse Education to establish, maintain, and monitor current and sound educational practices. Provides strategic leadership for the Practical Nursing Program and serves as the administrative representative to state and federal regulatory authorities, accrediting bodies, and professional nursing associations. Responsible for the safe and lawful operations of the Practical Nursing program, including budget management, related grant budgets, Program Advisory Board oversight, and program accreditation. Works with all nursing program faculty, support staff, the Senior Director of Nursing Education, and the Dean of Health to ensure continuous program improvement and alignment with the ADN program. Provide academic leadership and administrative direction to the Practical Nursing Program. Serve as Nurse Administrator/Administrator of Record in accordance with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing and accreditation requirements for the Practical Nursing Program. Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects of the educational programs, including curriculum development and the nursing program’s systematic evaluation plan. Coordinate searches for full-time faculty and staff positions for the Practical Nursing Programs. Orient, mentor, and evaluate full-time and part-time faculty in their areas of responsibility according to the MCCC contract for the Practical Nursing Program. Recruit, interview, and hire faculty for the Practical Nursing Programs. Prepare schedules and payroll for adjunct faculty for submission to the Dean of Health. Plan and manage the budget to ensure equipment and supplies for classrooms, laboratories, and instructional settings; monitor budget and determine priorities. Develop class schedules for the Practical Nursing Program. Prepare reports for regulatory agencies, the College, and program initiatives; assess effectiveness of initiatives. Ensure compliance with state regulations and accreditation criteria. Promote and maintain community relations, including a Nursing Department Advisory Board meeting at least twice per year. Resolve student issues related to the Practical Nursing Program. Develop and renew articulation agreements with area high schools, ADN programs, and four-year institutions as appropriate. Encourage and structure innovative professional development activities. Provide leadership to faculty in developing initiatives and activities that promote positive program outcomes. Guide faculty on the use of alternative pedagogy to enhance student learning, including instructional technology, web-based enhancements, and e-learning. Develop and implement grants; support faculty in developing and implementing grants. Collaborate with college areas to ensure appropriate academic advising for Nursing program students. Collaborate with Nursing Program option coordinators; participate in relevant college committees. Collaboration with Senior Leadership

Develop, implement, and assess Practical Nursing Department goals aligned with the institution’s mission and strategic directions, including student success initiatives. Provide leadership in grant activities for the Nursing Department; assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting. Assess programmatic needs through program review and oversee assessment of institutional, departmental, and course student learning outcomes. Develop and improve departmental curriculum, including course development and revision. Maintain current knowledge of trends in nursing education and administration. Maintains compliance with Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing regulations (244 CMR 6.04(2)(a)); Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing Earned graduate degree in nursing Minimum five years full-time nursing experience with at least three years in nursing education in either PN or RN programs, or a post-licensure graduate program Administrative competence including orientation and mentoring to the administrator role; knowledge of M.G.L. c. 112, 74-81C and 244 CMR Professional development in nursing education (certification, continuing education) Experience as a Practical Nurse or understanding of Practical Nursing scope of practice Commitment to the college’s mission and goals; leadership, planning, management, and supervision skills Strong organizational and financial management skills; ability to market programs and communicate effectively Knowledge of curriculum development and program assessment Understanding of incorporating technology into the college environment Experience with equity-minded work and diverse identities Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of and commitment to the role of the community college in higher education Knowledge of cultural competency skills framework Bilingual skills are a plus Additional Information

Salary Range:
