Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing bidding team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Conduct performance reviews, provide mentorship, and ensure departmental KPIs (accuracy, bid-hit ratio, turnaround time) are consistently achieved.
Bid & Proposal Management
Evaluate bid invitations, determine project fit, and assign bidding responsibilities.
Oversee the preparation and submission of accurate, competitive proposals, ensuring compliance with client requirements and internal standards.
Review cost estimates, validate quantity take-offs, and ensure assumptions and exclusions are clearly documented.
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to solicit competitive pricing; conduct bid leveling to compare and normalize proposals.
Ensure multiple competitive bids are collected for each scope of work to provide cost-effective options while maintaining quality.
Lead price negotiations with vendors to secure favorable terms while maintaining quality and schedule requirements.
Track and enforce strict bid deadlines to prevent delays that could impact construction schedules.
Manage bid logs, estimating databases, and historical cost records to ensure transparency and improve future pricing accuracy.
Project Handoff & Post-Award Support
Serve as the primary liaison to the Project Management team during project award, ensuring a seamless transition from bid to execution.
Verify that contracts, Letters of Intent, and proposals are aligned before execution.
Support operations with procurement, scheduling, and Procore documentation to ensure project readiness.
Work closely with internal stakeholders (finance, project management, and procurement teams) to align bids with budget and project goals.
Strategy & Process Optimization
Implement and maintain robust estimating processes and cost‑control strategies across the department.
Analyze supplier quotations, market conditions, and escalation factors; apply cost engineering principles to optimize project competitiveness.
Identify process inefficiencies, propose workflow improvements, and contribute to long‑term strategic planning.
Work Requirement
This is an
on‑site position . The Bidding Manager is expected to work from the company office and may be required to visit job sites, subcontractor offices, vendor facilities, or manufacturing locations as needed to support bid preparation and evaluation.
Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not applicable for this role.
Qualifications
5–7 years of progressive experience in construction estimating, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to mentor, motivate, and manage a team.
Advanced expertise in estimating methodologies, cost analysis, blueprint/specification interpretation, and bid strategy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced experience with estimating and project management software (Procore, On‑Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar).
Exceptional negotiation, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to build strong client and vendor relationships.
In-depth knowledge of construction standards, cost‑control methodologies, and industry best practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Business Administration preferred.
